Ana Julian, Assoc. AIA., joined IHCD as full-time staff in 2003 as Coordinator of Design and Communications. She works in a variety of projects including international conferences and consulting. Recent projects in which she conducted design review for accessibility and universal design include the Provincetown Art Association Museum; the Ford Hall new construction at Smith College and a comprehensive assessment of the Town of Concord properties.
Currently, Ms. Julian provides technical assistance as part of the New England Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Center, a project of the Institute of Human Centered Design. Ms. Julian has a Masters of Architecture degree from the Ecole Speciale d'Architecture in Paris, and a Master in Techniques of Construction from the Institute de la Construction Industraialisee, also in Paris. After receiving her masters degree, Ana traveled extensively in Europe and practiced for several years in architectural firms. She has experience designing affordable housing in Paris and for clients in the developing world. Ms. Julian has a strong interest in renovations in religious spaces to improve the accessibility and sense of welcome for the community across the spectrum of ability and age. She produced a training on the topic initially for Build Boston and for continuing education credits for architects. She is tri-lingual in Spanish, French and English.
