This 2003 essay compilation focuses on a journey, my own and that of others, from feeling shame about our disabilities to recognizing who we are with pride. This is not a journey without bumps, bruises--and scars--along the way. The discussion continues to this day, on social media, in books, essays and articles and poetry. Much of what is in this book paved the way for these current discussions.
