GSA has posted a job announcement for their National Program Manager for the GSA Accessibility Program:
As an Architect (Accessibility Officer), you will serve as the National Program Manager for the GSA Accessibility Program. In addition, you will support and contribute to the Center's mission to provide leadership in Architecture design for GSA's nationwide design and construction program.
Location of Position
Review requests for waivers and modifications of the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standard (ABAAS) submitted by GSA Regional Commissioners or other federal agency officials. Review requests to assure that the wavier or modification is necessary and makes recommendations for approval/disapproval to the PBS Commissioner.
Provide expert professional architectural advice and input into research and programs to ensure that construction and project management expertise continues to be recognized and valued within and outside GSA PBS.
Evaluate, monitor, and provide direct liaison between GSA headquarters and regional design, construction and building alterations operations in order to assess their performance in carrying out the nationwide design policies including accessibility. Serve as an expert resource for, and participates in, the evaluation of proposed designs for GSA projects. Apply new developments in field of expertise in adapting existing knowledge or applications to fit a unique Design or Construction issue or situation.
Represent GSA on national committees regarding technical standards, policies, and criteria regarding barrier free design. Represent the agency on design matters including accessibility. Attend meetings with senior-level federal officials, local and state governmental officials, professional membership societies and committees, and public interest groups and organizations. Act as the GSA liaison to the United States Access Board.
